FROM THE EDITOR

Louise Mackay, English Newsletter Editor.

Dear All, At DigitalEve Japan we are looking forward to 2005 with renewed vigour and hope for many of our members to fulfil a resolution or two - that may include volunteering for a DEva activity. As you may have noticed, in recent issues we have been asking for help in the organisation of our activities. Even if you are a far flung member you can still contribute

as most (if not all) of our activities we organise and manage via email. So if you wish to help with the Newsletter, organising workshops and meetings, web content and delivery, or anything else that springs to mind, we would be very glad to hear from you.

As December has been a busy month for us all we have a shortened version of the newsletter to bring in the Year of the Rooster. In this issue we have our leader report, membership news and media team news.

Happy New Year from the Newsletter team.

ROTA LEADER

Leader Report Misao Kajiro Interim leader for December and January

Dear DEvas,

Happy Hew Year!

I hope all of you are fine and I wish you a happy and successful 2005.

Thank you for supporting DigitalEve Japan in 2004.

Our mailing lists will change soon. I do hope the conversion goes smoothly and that the new list is useful for all members.

We are seeking volunteers who can help us grow and meet our goals. You'll enjoy sharing ideas and enthusiasm through many activities. If more of you volunteer to help us, we can organize more and better events and workshops this year.

We have a lot of files such as event reports, handbooks, etc, which were written by former leaders (including other volunteers). If you want to work as a SC member there is a lot of material for you to refer to. It would be great to have you on board!

Personally my studies have kept me very busy, and I'm afraid that I have to work and study even during the New Year's Holiday. I'm really enjoying this course, although it's tough to be working and studying at the same time. However, it's an interesting experience to take on the challenge of learning about a new field.

Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.

MEDIA TEAM NEWS

Chiharu Kawai, Media Coordinator

Happy New Year! Wherever you are today, I hope you are safe and warm. The other day, I found in my stamp case a couple of American stamps with a picture of a rooster issued in the last year of the rooster. Wow, I was in the U.S. 12 years ago... At that time, if I remember correctly, it was new for the U.S. Postal Service to issue the red Chinese-looking stamp in respect of the Chinese year.

In Year 2004, particularly toward the end, we were struggling to revitalize our activities. We had a hard time recruiting volunteers for workshops, events and others. Fortunately, a couple of open positions have been filled. I hope more positions will be filled this year.

As a media coordinator, I have plenty of good ideas, but I need DEVas to help me implement these ideas.

Let's make DEJ more visible this year!!
