FROM THE EDITOR
Ko Iwata, Japanese Newsletter Editor
<newsletter@digitalevejapan.org>
Just as I was about to start editing this month's
newsletter, my internet connection was cut. After pleading
with my ISP I was finally reconnected. I apologize for the
delay.
In this month's edition, we have an interview about Indian
food for you. Also in June, the Roland Garros French Open
Tennis tournament means that the number of people suffering
from sleepless nights is going to increase. So, let's take
afternoon naps instead!

ROTA LEADER
Chiharu Kawai
Leader's Report
Summer is beginning, and we will soon be in the rainy
season. We hope you are all doing fine. Another big
earthquake hit Indonesia recently. We would like to express
our deepest condolences for the loss of thousands of lives
and hope that the area will recover soon.
DigitalEve Japan is constantly growing. However, it is a
pity that our online communication has not been very active
lately. Nowadays, many people know how to use search engines
and find the information they want on the Internet fairly
easily and may not have to post questions to our list.
However, please do not stay reserved. Don't be afraid of
asking "simple" questions or bringing up some topics for
discussion. Remember, we are here to help one another. We
hope you will take advantage of it more often!

MEDIA TEAM NEWS
Chiharu Kawai, Media Coordinator
<media-j@digitalevejapan.org>
The World Cup Football matches are starting!! I'm not a huge
soccer fan, but this event is special! The official site is
as follows: http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/splash.html. It's a very
large site with a whole lot of contents in nine different
languages. Once the games begin, I wonder how many people
will be working constantly behind the website to keep it up
to date. It must be intense work! By the way, I hear that
the official mascot, Goleo VI
(http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/e/mascot.html), is so unpopular
in Japan that the licensed manufacturer is facing a serious
financial problem. It may be because of cultural
differences. Japanese people in general like cute and simple
characters, while Goleo VI is...well...not. In addition, the
lion is in a T-shirt but his (male?) lower body is fully
exposed!!
So, the T-shirt season is here! DEJ T-shirts are available
in black and white in sizes S, M and L. They are sold at
events and by mail (+ 250 yen for shipping). For more
information, please access:
