Happy New Year 2007, everyone! You know, the good thing
about another new year coming around is that it's always a
chance to create new dreams and new beginnings.

My wish is that we, the members of Digital Eve Japan, can
continue to work together and to make our organization even
better than it was last year, and, to keep on creating a
supportive environment in which to help each other to learn,
succeed, and of course, have fun!

And if you want to fight your mid-winter blahs, please check
out the New Year's upcoming events listed at the bottom of
this newsletter.

Again, Happy New Year, good health and best wishes to you all.

Leader's Report

Hello Devas,

Akemashite omedetto gozaimasu. Happy New Year Everyone!

Our best wishes to all DEJ members for the New Year.
We wish you a very happy, healthy, and heart warming year.

Looking back on the year 2006, what Digital Eve Japan
accomplished was making small, but significant progress with
our year-round events -from Meet the DEvas social events to
annual events, and workshops. DEJ started the year with an
"Excel for Beginners" workshop by Smita Deshpande in March;
followed by a speaker's event -an interactive session looking
at different styles of communication and cross cultural
communication given by Rochelle Kopp in April. Our volunteers
and new members got together in June for a "Meet the DEvas"
event. In July, Jennifer Shermer Pack, our volunteer tutor,
gave us a very interesting "Photoshop for Intermediates"
workshop. We had a cool summer break with the DEJ Beer Party
in August. During the fall, another workshop in Adobe
Photoshop was given by Tara Crane and another "Meet the
DEvas" event for networking and socializing took place in
November. Finally, we said good-bye to the year 2006 with a
cozy DEJ year-end party in December.

In 2007, Digital Eve Japan will continue to be a supportive
community and to work together with our members to fulfill
our mission of empowering members through the use and
understanding of technology, building an effective networking
resource, creating an international community of women from
varied backgrounds, offering access to useful resources,
developing low-cost educational opportunities in IT,
encouraging and advocating women to pursue IT-related careers,
and promoting a balanced working environment and lifestyles
for all women.

MEDIA TEAM NEWS

Happy New Year! I hope Year 2007 will be a great one for all
of us! In terms of media relations, the best achievement we
made during 2006 is that DigitalEve Japan was covered by
The Foreigner (online magazine) and the Hiragana Times.
I would like to extend my appreciation to all the people who
made it happen. We also met with Ms. Anastasia Govan of the
Australian Computer Society and discussed possible future
cooperation between our organizations. This year, hopefully,
being even more proactive, we will be able to initiate more
interesting and significant projects. Not only workshops,
speaker events, and some other social events, which we have
had regularly, but also some new events such as career
presentations, wine tasting, etc. are also being considered.
To implement these projects and make our group more active
and practical, your support and participation are essential.
DEJ is for you. Ganbatte!

Total membership is 704 as of December 28th, 2006.

One new member joined in December.
Sommer, welcome to DEJ!

As you can see in the report by Ladawan we had
a wonderful meeting at the DEJ Year End Party. Thanks to
all who helped and joined us on the 20th December.
We invited former and current volunteers as a way to show
our appreciation, since have been few chances to meet them
face to face. If you couldn't make it, please join us next time.

We are going to plan as many meetings as we can this year,
such as Meet the DEvas and DEvening.

I wish all of you a Happy New Year 2007!

WEB CONTENT TEAM NEWS

A big round of applause to everyone who helped made the DEJ
2006 year-end party a successful get-together. A small group
of DEJ members got together on Wednesday, December 20th at
Grail bar for a Christmas and year-end party.
It was a wonderful party by all accounts. Good food and
good company always bring us happiness. The night ended
with a gift exchange game. We each went home with a little
present and a very full stomach. Here are some of the
uplifting comments about the party, thank YOU and we
hope to see you all again at our other exciting events
in 2007.

-Green Salad, Smoked Salmon, Fish and Chips plus Fried
Shrimp and Fried Mushroom, Roasted Beef with Mashed Potato,
Kaki-gohan (oyster cooked with rice), our choices of two
drinks plus a glass of white wine, ice cream and ginger
cookies were served at the party. We were so stuffed!

-Thank you for organizing the end year party and I had good
time to chat with DEJ members! It was very nice to see all
of you who were in the party. Also the food was very delicious!

-The dessert was very nice! My stomach was extremely full
after I ate so much food but I couldn't stop eating the dessert
too......I didn't expect that much food we get!

-It was a nice meeting, wasn't it? Wonderful food and drinks,
good service and friendly atmosphere. I'm drinking coffee with
a cute mug presented at the night!

-Yes, thank you for organizing the party. I had a lot of fun,
and was sad to have to leave early! It was great to meet
everyone and I hope our paths cross again soon.

-I also wanted to say thank you very much to everyone for
the good time and good conversation. I also thought the venue
was great-excellent food and excellent people.

-I enjoyed year-end party. Thanx for hardworking, Misa,
and good to see you all fellows.
