FROM
THE EDITOR
Ailsa Wylie, English Editor
newsletter@digitaleve.org
Sorry
for the late publication this month.
This week, Barack Obama was elected
President of the USA.
It's a historic day of great interest not only to
Americans
but to people around the world. Digital technology is a part
of
what makes us feel connected to the moment.
I followed the news at work,
using my laptop with a portable
dialup modem and unlimited connection time. A
coworker
asked me the result and passed it on to other staff. I
exchanged
text messages about the news as it happened.
Too often, the news seems to
be about death and
destruction. But whatever your opinion of the
election
results, it is exciting news instead of war or
natural/financial
disaster.
Like the rest of the world, I wonder what will happen
next.

MEDIA
TEAM NEWS
Chiharu Kawai, Media Coordinator
media-j@digitalevejapan.org
I
hope you are enjoying the autumn weather and tinted
foliage. In contrast to
the beautiful season, the economy
looks quite ugly and is pushing us harder
to make both ends
meet. I am personally turned off by those same old
quick
fixes our politicians offer. Well, I guess we just have to
hang in
there to survive the hard times.
Have you picked up a copy of the free
English magazine
called "Tokyo Families"? It is a family-oriented
magazine
but covers a wide range of topics. I am currently thinking
about
how we should work with the Tokyo Families magazine to
bring benefits to both
parties. If you have any ideas,
please let me
know!
