Hi everyone. This is the July issue of the DEJ newsletter. Every year at this time, I look forward to Asagao Ichi, the Japanese Morning Glory Fair. I’m afraid it will rain this year, but it is fun to see the colorful morning glories!

The most famous one is the Iriya Asagao Ichi, but there are some other Asagao Ichi such as those in Koiwa, Souka, Kunitachi, Kamakura and so on. How about checking out the Morning Glory Fair nearest you?

The Asagao Ichi around Tokyo are listed in http://matsuri.enjoytokyo.jp/asagao/ (in Japanese only)

You can find English information about festivals in:

How are you doing these rainy days? The rainy season is over in Okinawa, then, hot summer is coming soon! What are your plans this summer? DEJ will plan a beer party or a summer treat if some of you would like to join. Send us your opinion! leader@…

In each monthly newsletter, we will spotlight a DEJ member, asking several questions as an interview. There are many members who haven’t been introduced yet so please send a mail to our editors to share your experience (not only tech.) with members.

I wanted to share the site that showcases great examples of minimalism in webdesign. This is a good guide for our webdesign. 50-inspiring-examples-of-minimalism-in-web-design.

MEMBERSHIP TEAM NEWS

Misao Kajiro, Membership Coordinator

Total membership was 349 as of the 30th of June

What an amazing group we had in attendance at the Event Naked Tokyo 2009 last week. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable even though the title was provocative. DEJ member, Alexis Alvarez, showed two beautiful photographs. I felt that they presented many ways of understanding the concept of Naked.

MEDIA TEAM NEWS

Chiharu Kawai, Media Coordinator

Back in the early 1980s, when MTV became super popular–when Michael Jackson introduced his promotional videos–we were still buying analog records. On the other hand, the digitization of music was in progress. Today, thanks to the technology, we can access YouTube any time and watch hundreds of video clips of Michael Jackson in his early days with Jackson 5 throughout the final days. (I personally like his childhood stuff better and watched many clips from those days.) It seems like millions of people around the world have been watching his videos on YouTube since that day.

When I recall, in the early 1980s, I could never ever imagine I would be watching videos in this way in 20 years. Hurrah for digital technologies!

Well, the summer is here. We still have DigitalEve Japan T-shirts in black and white and in S, M and L! If you are interested, please contact me. Let’s hope the rainy season will be over soon!
